Monday was legendary. We decided to head to Lansing to ball up with some elders. We got approval from our ZLs so we were chilling since we had miles. We played intense basketball games with the elders. For lunch I had chick fil a for the first time since before I left on my mission. It did not disappoint. I miss that place so much. Before we left we ran volleyball with all the elders and sisters. It was really fun, but I only won 1 game and I think we played 5. Weston would be so proud.
Tuesday was one of those days that every missionary hates. No matter how determined you are to do missionary work, you have those days where you feel like doing nothing. We were out door knocking for two hours and we were not just getting rejected, but getting rude responses. It for real had me really disappointed and annoyed. We stopped and prayed to see if we should still be out here. Elder Nelson encouraged us to hit just three more doors. The very last door we knocked on, right when we said Jesus Christ, he hung up on the person he was talking to and let us in. We taught the full restoration and even if it doesn't go too far, The Lord taught me that he prepares people to teach and we are in charge of putting ourselves out there to find his children. Shout-out to Elder Nelson for pushing me, I love that man.
District council was on Wednesday and I decided to lead the council on communication. Who doesn't like learning more how to better communicate with your companion and the friends you are teaching. While we were finding for the rest of the day, we found two friends door knocking, along with 4 potentials. For Facebook finding during the day we decided to start doing it on the library computers and it's so much fun. We stay so focused and we don't get blocked as fast when we're on computers, let's go! So many Ws this week.
One of the days this week I was not feeling it. I just want to emphasize the importance of daily scripture study. I was in such a bad mood at one point in this week. It wasn't my companion because Elder Nelson is goated, it wasn't my area, it wasn't the weather, but I just seemed off. This was the morning on Thursday. I did my full morning routine and I was still not having it. You all know me, Luke goes through his phases. By the end of the 45 minute personal study I had changed my attitude completely. The rest of the day was amazing. As I prioritized showing that I love God by reading His word, He made up the rest. Daily immersion in the scripture is A1.
Saturday we decided we are going to start visiting some churches in the area. We first started off going to a 7th Day Adventist Church. It is different. Lots of kneeling, and standing, and singing, and praising. Funny side note. While we were there they played the beat/note pattern to,"If You Could Hie To Kolob," but it was to some weird hymn. Elder Nelson and I were singing that while the others were singing the knock off version.
Saturday night we both needed a haircut. Elder Nelson has a razor to cut hair and I have cutting scissors so what better way than to cut each other's hair. It didn't turn out that bad so we are good. Great learning experiences. Also, a funny side note. Elder Nelson and I are the exact same weight to the ounce. Both are exactly 156.8 pounds, but for mom that is 71.27 kg.
Sunday Elder Nelson and I had to bless the Sacrament since the branch doesn't have many priesthood holders. We made a foolish mistake… we didn't break the bread small enough and we had to bless even more bread for just us two. We were three pieces of bread short. It was so awkward because three of our friends came to church and they didn't even know what was going on. It was a silly mistake that will be funny to look back on.
This week flew by! Elder Nelson and I continue to thrive doing the Lord's work. We found 9 new friends to teach this week. Also, we were Invited to memorize the Restoration Proclamation. In four days I memorized the whole thing, LETS GO! I love you all. Please reach out, there isn't much to do in Charlotte if the weather isn't good. God is real, I represent Jesus Christ's New Testament Church, Joseph Smith is a prophet of God. You know the drill #FindTime4Me
